IMAGE OPTIMIZATION
Please keep images and files to < 1 MB). Large images take longer to download and can dramatically increase the load time of your pages, lowering your SEO score.
Size most of your images to 1920 x 1280 px at 72dpi and then adjust the image with the focal point. Doing this ensures the image can be used as a Header Image (Drupal will automatically crop it to 1920 x 455 px), and an Article banner image, or an image in a paragraph of text, anywhere, but you only have to upload it ONCE. Small images pixelate when you try to use them as Headers.
1920 x 624 px is the size to use for tall banners on landing pages in a Carousel Slider custom block (approx. 160 - 200 KB recommended at 72 dpi). Any image this size can also be used for hero images on regular pages by adding it using the Header Options tab in Edit mode. Tutorial Video
One of the most important things to know is how to optimize your images before you upload them. If you choose to use the gorgeous images from unsplash or pexels, they are generally huge files. You will need to get them under 1mb before uploading. Learn More about optimizing images
